A time away

Dear friends and readers,

As I've written this morning on Ellen and Jim have a blog, Two, Jim and I are off to a few day 18th century conference where I'll give a paper on Rape in Clarissa, two topics I've talked about much here on Reveries under the Sign of Austen.

When I return and I hope by Sunday, I intend to write a blog on Jane Goodall's two beautiful memoirs of her life with chimpanzees, as well as Sy Montgomery's Walking with Apes, and some account of Dian Fosse and Birute Gildikas's experiences and lives with gorillas and orangutans.  I mean to muse on women's memoirs (once again), lives and women's ways of conducting science (so I'll include Danielle Ofri's Singular Intimacies, on the art of medicine).

A toute a l'heure,
Ellen
